Former Chesterfield player claims he was "racially abused" while playing for Ebbsfleet United against Hartlepool United

The 31-year-old, who had a loan spell at the Spireites in the first-half of this season, left League Two Swindon Town to join Ebbsfleet in January.

Hartlepool confirmed two allegations of crowd abuse during Saturday’s match were reported to the referee and an annoucement was made over the tannoy at Victoria Park.

Ebbsfleet boss Kevin Watson told BBC Radio Kent that the alleged incidents were reported by goalkeeper Jordan Holmes and McGlashan.

After the game McGlashan wrote on Twitter: “Class from the few Hartlepool players that came to see how I was today after being racially abused not for the first time in a game, no room whatsoever for it & hope it gets dealt with accordingly!”

In January Hartlepool were fined £7,500 by the Football Association after being found guilty of failing to ensure their fans refrained from using racially-abusive language against Dover Athletic last September.

Hartlepool are now appealing for information and would like anyone who witnessed the alleged incidents to come forward.

A club statement on Saturday read: “It is important to state that, at this stage, these alleged incidents are unsubstantiated and will be subject to a full investigation.

“We will hide nothing in our thorough examination of the facts

“Hartlepool United condemn abuse of any nature and we will continue to work closely with the relevant bodies to ensure that Victoria Park is a safe and welcoming environment for all supporters, staff and players.”
