Darren Ferguson has urged his Doncaster Rovers players to remember the good times as they look to return to winning ways.

Defeat at Barnsley on Saturday was Rovers’ fourth consecutive loss, leaving them three points clear of League One’s bottom four and without a league win in six.

Ferguson believes his side are currently lacking confidence and says they need to remember how good they can be, as shown by their form before the New Year when they began to flirt with the play-offs.

“We’ve got to make sure we remind ourselves of when we were winning games,” he told The Star.

“Myself as a manager, I don’t want to go and start changing a load of things because I’m not with a bunch of players that have gone from really good to really bad.

“I’m not in there thinking we just can’t get to the level I expect or want because we have done many times.

“We’re on a bad run, there’s no getting away from it. The home form is something we need to eradicate very quickly and we’ve got Millwall next week.

Ferguson insists he saw enough in the 1-0 defeat at Oakwell to suggest the winless run will not go on much longer.

He said: “What I said to the players after the game they have to make sure they listen to in terms of where we want to go with it.

“I didn’t think we deserved to lose that game let’s put it that way.”

Rovers today hope to extend the loan of Sunderland forward Lynden Gooch.

But midfielder Eddy Lecygne has returned to Stoke City after the end of his loan spell.

Goalkeeper Chris Neal was recalled by parent club Port Vale on Friday and played in their defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.
