Derby delight for Shirebrook as they beat Teversal

Goals from Kenan McKenzie Gray, Joshua Devereux and Sheldon Jordan gave Shirebrook a 3-1 derby day victory against NCEL Division One rivals Teversal on Saturday.

Shirebrook flew out the traps with McKenzie Gray, Jordan and Kieran Ordidge all having chances in the opening 10 minutes, Mackenzie Grey again going close in the 12th minute, his effort saved by the Teversal keeper from point blank range.

Teversal had chances of their own via Jack McWilliams, Jake Allen and Jak Lightly. Allen again went close, forcing Tomlinson into a great save.

Shirebrook who took the lead in the 41st minute when McKenzie Gray raced away down the right and smashed in from a tight angle.

However, Teversal pulled level through Cameron Pinnick.

Shirebrook starte d the stronger of the two teams in the second half with Keiron Sykes Tobin and Dever eux having chances.

Teversal again began to get on top with with ex-Shirebrook player George Simpson and Callum Milner both going close.

Shirebrook took the lead in the 77th minute when Devereux hit a free kick into the top corner from 25 yards out, the same player striking the bar minutes later. They wrapped up the points in the 81st minute when Jessop was played in down the left and raced away and crossed for Jordan to tap in from close range.

Teversal’s George Simpson headed over from close range in the closing stages.

Shirebrook were back in action last night Wednesday night when they visited Nostell Miners Welfare.
