Declan John's stay with Spireites brought to an end

Declan John will play no more part in Chesterfield's relegation fight, after Cardiff City recalled the youngster.

The left-sided player has missed the last four Chesterfield games due to international duty and an injury he picked up while playing for Wales Under 21s.

John joined the Spireites midway through February on a month’s loan, which was extended in March until the end of the season.

He played six times for Chesterfield, at both left-back and left midfield, before injurying his hamstring over the Easter weekend while playing for his country.

The blow of his departure will be softened somewhat by the impressive recent form of Drew Talbot, and the return to fitness of Dion Donohue.
