Slew, who joined the Spireites on a deal until the end of the season, scored four for the reserves midweek against Gateshead.

And Wilson said the former Sheffield United striker will get his opportunity in the first team soon if he continues “doing the business”.

“Four goals in any game is an achievement,” said Wilson. “I know it was only a reserve game against a weakened side but that really does not make a difference to me.

“A striker has got to go and do the business and score goals. Whatever’s against them, they’ve got to do it. Jordan did that but his all round play was good as well.

“Him and Rai Simons played very well together on the day. Their attitude and application against a team they could have strolled around but they didn’t.

“They were very professional and they were rewarded with goals. He’s not as fit as the other boys in match practice. I don’t think there would be a problem if he went in.

“Whether he lasts the full 90 we’ll have to wait and see. He’ll be getting an opportunity, that’s for sure.”
