“It was a little bit of a gamble to play him against Weymouth. I would not say the gamble did not pay off because we were very good for the half an hour when he was on the pitch. It affected our rhythm when he came off because we could not step in so well that side but Josef (Yarney) conducted himself very well considering he had not played many minutes.

“If Laurence does not make it we have got the players who are chomping at the bit to take that opportunity.”

Rowe remained tight-lipped on whether any of Jack Clarke (fatigue), Jak McCourt (muscle injury) or Gavin Gunning (hamstring) would be available for the trip to the Silverlake Stadium.

The Spitfires are only two points and two places by the Blues but have only won one of their last eight,

Rowe added: “They are going to be hungry because they were in a really good run on form when we played them here (Technique Stadium) and we obviously broke that form.

“They are going to be aware of the levels we can get to and they are going to be hungry to put that right. I think they deserve more points than what perhaps they have got from the performances I have seen.”
