Chesterfield striker Hazel joins up with Matlock

MATLOCK Town have snapped up promising Chesterfield striker Jacob Hazel on a month’s loan.

He made his first appearance for the Gladiators as a second half substitute in their 2-1 FA Trophy defeat to Luton Town on Saturday.

The 18-year-old’s been scoring goals in the Spireites’ reserves and has made three first team appearances for the League Two outfit this season.

Chesterfield boss Paul Cook said he will benefit from the game time and add much-needed experience for the teenage striker.

He said: “It’s important for young lads to go out and play football. They need to build up their football CV.

“If Jacob can go to Matlock and score some goals and make people speak about him in the right way it will only benefit him and the club.”
