Chesterfield star man Akwasi Asante signs new contract at Spireites
Star man Akwasi Asante has signed a new contract at Chesterfield until the summer of 2024.
The striker has scored nine goals in 13 league games for the Spireites this season.
The 28-year-old joined on an 18-month deal in November from Gloucester City when James Rowe was appointed manager.
His electric form, which has seen him become one of the most prolific forwards in the division, has persuaded the club to act swiftly and offer him an extension.
Asante joins boss Rowe in extending his stay at the Technique for another year.
On signing his new deal, Asante said: “Ever since I came to the club, I’ve been enjoying my football. We’ve been winning games and I’ve been scoring goals, so I couldn’t be happier.
“When the club offered me a new deal, I had no hesitation in accepting it. It’s an exciting project at the club – everyone is happy and we’re heading in the right direction, which is why I decided to sign.”
