His loan at the Racecourse Ground was terminated on Monday night, with the club saying that manager Dean Keates ‘reluctantly approved of a move in the best interest of the player’.

"We're disappointed to see Adi leave but we felt we were unable to stand in the way of this opportunity,” Keates said.

"He came in, scored some goals for us and we wish him the very best with the next chapter in his career.”

On joining Town, Yussuf said: “I’m grateful to be joining a great club like Chesterfield and I can’t wait to get started.

“I know a few of the boys here and I’ve heard good things about the club. From what I’ve heard, the manager is everything a player needs from a manager.

“I’m at the peak stage of my career and I want to be able to give everything to the club, on and off the pitch.”

The Tanzanian international, who went to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, signed for Blackpool on a two-year deal in May 2019 from Solihull Moors after scoring 21 goals in all competitions for the National League club in the 2018/19 campaign.

He started his career at Leicester City and has played in the Football League at Burton Albion, Mansfield Town and Crawley Town.

Yussuf becomes manager James Rowe’s 13th signing since being appointed on November 26.

The Spireites have been in need of a striker with top scorer Tom Denton ruled out for at least 10 weeks with a knee injury and with Nathan Tyson still recovering from a hamstring problem and Luke Rawson loaned out.

Yussuf’s arrival comes after the Blues announced they have furloughed four players who are not in Rowe’s plans, a decision the club has received some criticism for in the last few days.
