Chesterfield set to appoint Gloucester City manager as new boss

Chesterfield are set to appoint Gloucester City manager James Rowe as their new boss.

Gloucester City confirmed Rowe has been in talks with the Spireites and we understand he is set to be appointed today or tomorrow.

The interviews for the job took place on Monday with ex Blues striker Kevin Davies and new football advisor Lee Turnbull were on the panel along with chairman Mike Goodwin, co-vice chairmen Dave Simmonds and Martin Thacker and chief executive John Croot.

Rowe, 37, has guided the unbeaten Tigers to the top of National League North this season with seven wins and two draws, scoring 26 goals along the way.

The former West Ham United, Birmingham City and Aldershot coach has been in charge at Gloucester for a year.
