The central midfielder scored eight goals in 43 appearances last season as Solihull finished fifth before eventually losing to Bromley in the play-off final and Gateshead in the FA Trophy final, both on penalties.

Reports claim that the Spireites and Bromley were interested in securing his signature but both missed out.

Maycock came through the academy at Coventry City, making his senior debut in the 2016/17 season. He has also played for Leamington and Macclesfield.

On signing for AFC Wimbledon, he said: “I want to do what I can to help this club get into League One. Promotion is our target, it’s the aim and hopefully we’ll get that done.

“I’ve shown that I can dart forward from midfield, get on the ball and as of last year, get goals to my name. The aim will be to continue that here. I’m excited to be in this place.”

While manager Jonnie Jackson added: “Callum is an energetic, box to box midfielder with an eye for a goal. He has performed consistently well over the last few seasons with Solihull and is hungry to take his chance in the league.

“He wants to get on the ball and make things happen and loves to get forward, as seen by the eight goals he scored from midfield last season.”
