Chesterfield hit by FA fine for breach of financial rules


The Spireites received a £12,500 fine after a hearing in London last week, over payments made to two former players.
The FA punishment comes two years after the game’s authorities were made aware of the allegations.

Hide AdMyles Wright and Jake Orrell, who have both since left the club, had their wages paid by a private football academy linked to Chesterfield FC.
Those payments were in breach of FA rule C1.
All payments to players must be recorded in a club’s accounts.
CFC Football Development School Ltd was owned by Chesterfield’s former CEO Chris Turner and an ex non-league footballer Liam Sutcliffe.

Hide AdTurner resigned as a director of the academy before it eventually went into liquidation owing almost £250,000.
Liquidators are still believed to be chasing Chesterfield FC for a significant amount of money allegedly owed to the venture by the club.
