Chesterfield's 2018/19 season was a tale of two halves, with the second half proving a lot more enjoyable than the first.
Here's how we think the club's players fared individually.
There were better performances towards the end of the season, under Sheridan
Shwan Jalal - 7 - Solid at the start of the season, got injured, fell out of favour with Allen but returned under Sheridan and proved his worth. Very solid. Eleven league clean sheets from 25 games.
Callum Burton - 7 - Showed some very decent shot-stopping skills during his loan spell. The side's fragile confidence made life difficult. Blotted his copybook a little with moment of madness in final game.
Joe Anyon - 6 - Only made two appearances all season, one of which saw him lose out in a number of one-on-one duels, having been left exposed by his back line, but he conceded only once.
Brad Barry - 6 - Played better under John Sheridan than we've perhaps seen since he arrived at the Proact almost two years ago. Wasn't the best performer in the first part of the season, nor was he the worst.
Drew Talbot - 6 - Poleaxed in the second game, played through the pain barrier for 11 games before succumbing to a serious knee problem that ended his season. Injury clearly affected his performance, if not his desire.
Jonathan Smith - 7 - Reliable at right-back, pretty consistent in the middle. Drove Town forward in many games, chipped in with a few goals. One of the most combative Spireites.
Lee Shaw - 6.5 - For work-rate, few could match him. Signed as a striker but played wide right or wing-back. Gave his all every game. Didn't take his chances up front however.
Josef Yarney - 6.5 - Largely solid on the right of a three in defence. Susceptible to pace a few times and wasn't always great on the ball, but settled in well and definitely contributed to an improved Town defence.
Jerome Binnom-Williams - 6 - Won the most important penalty of the season. As it has always been at Town, there were flashes of what he can do, but it was never consistent or sustained. Hampered by injury again too.
Ellis Chapman - 6.5 - An 18-year-old loanee central midfielder who played left wing-back under John Sheridan and did very well. Defensively he was caught out at times, but his deliveries into the box were consistently superb.
Sam Muggleton - 5 - Brought in to deliver a long throw that caused havoc but didn't produce goals. Struggled to endear himself to fans, became a symbol of tactics they hated. Sent out on loan before suffering horrific injuries.
