The invitation is among a number of tributes the Spireites have planned in memory of Jordan, who died on Saturday after an incident in Retford town centre.

An image of the 25-year-old, who made eight appearances for the club in the 2017-18 season, will feature on the front cover of the matchday programme and a minute’s applause will take place before the National League clash.

“With an image of Jordan on the big screen, fans will also be encouraged to join in with a minute’s applause after 25 minutes to mark Jordan’s age,” said a club spokesman.

A fundraising mini-tournament in pre-season involving Chesterfield, Matlock Town and Alfreton Town is also planned.

Jordan was on loan at the Gladiators from Alfreton at the time of his death and their Northern Premier League game at Grantham Town tonight has been postponed.

The club tweeted: “Our fixture that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday between ourselves and Grantham Town is now POSTPONED due to yesterday’s tragic events. We thank @granthamtownfc and @NorthernPremLge for their consideration and sympathy shown at an incredibly difficult time.”

Alfreton will hold a minute's silence when they host Gloucester City in the National League North this evening.

Three men are currently in custody having been arrested as part of a murder investigation following Jordan’s death.

Jordan was found unconscious at around 2am close to Retford Market Place and died in hospital shortly before 6pm, surrounded by his family.
