Declan John will remain at the Proact until the end of the season, after Chesterfield reached a deal with Cardiff City to extend the defender's loan spell.

The 20-year-old has been impressive in his five appearances for the Spireites, during his initial month’s loan.

A product of the Cardiff academy, John made his debut in 2012 and has played twice for Wales as a full international.

Last year he went out on loan to Barnsley, where he played nine times between the beginning of March and the end of the season.

Somewhat ironically, he arrived at Oakwell just weeks after the departure of Chesterfield manager Danny Wilson.

The youngster’s loan deal at the Proact runs out on 8th May.
