Chesterfield are a 'nearly team' at the moment, says our Spireites fan columnist

Tactically we are a ‘nearly’ team at the moment, who can get it right but we’ve not really seen it for the full 90 minutes yet.
With Chesterfield it’s always of a case of how will the tactics work against our opponents, after the batting display against Stockport and a penalty shootout win, Blues assistant manager John Dungworth was full of praise for boss John Pemberton’s tactics which he said were ‘spot on’. In the replayed game, it was Jim Gannon, the county manager, who had the upper hand playing a pressing style in a 4-4-2 formation meant that our back three made mistakes under pressure and conceded.

Hide AdLooking forward to Saturday Maidenhead is no easy fixture, the Berkshire team could well have been relegated at the end of last season. But for Bury’s demise, the season being stopped and only three teams going down, they could have gone through the trap door.
That’s all water under the bridge and the Magpies under Alan Devonshire are currently fifth with a record of won four lost three, and bizarrely a negative goal difference. They’ve beaten Solihull Moors, Notts County and Wrexham but were also on the end of a 4-0 drubbing by Hartlepool.
Here’s hoping the Blues can emerge on Saturday with a fluid style of play and more chances created.
