Burnley boss Sean Dyche praises Chesterfield loan star

The former Spireites skipper was instrumental in Anderson joining Town for two loan spells, the second of which will keep the central defender at the Proact until the end of the season.

Dyche felt some time in League One would benefit Anderson and he’s been impressed with how the 23-year-old Lancastrian has handled it.

“He has been fantastic,” he said.

“I know they’ve had a tough season but he did fantastically well there, last season.

“I know he’s holding his own this season in a tough time.”

Dyche believed that Anderson would be treated fairly by Town supporters, because of the attitude he always displays on the pitch.

It’s the same attitude 45-year-old Dyche says he himself had when he was a defender at Chesterfield, a spell remembered for a promotion and an FA Cup semi-final (231 appearances, 1990–1997.)

“I have always said to him, it was a good club to me,” he said.

“That doesn’t guarantee, it’s a different club now and a better club in many ways, the stadium is fantastic, but I found the people there to be very fair and open.

“I always thought, and I think this should be about fan mentality, it should be the number one thing - wanting players that give you everything.

“Tom will give you everything, he’s a great lad, his mentality is superb and his will and desire are definitely intact and those are qualities I had when I was at Chesterfield.”

Anderson has made 33 appearances this season, scoring once. Last season in his first loan spell he played 18 games for Town.

Chesterfield entertain Rochdale on Saturday, who are 13 places above them in League One.
