Belper Town hitting the FA Trophy trail

Grant Black wants his Belper Town side to go on an FA Trophy run, but he won't be taking hosts Newcastle Town lightly.

The Nailers head to Staffordshire on Saturday looking to get past their fellow Northern Premier League South East Division pacesetters (KO 3pm).

"Newcastle are a really tough place to go at the best of times, but the way they've set off this year as well makes it even more difficult," Black said. "I keep reiterating to the lads and everyone associated with the club, there are no easy games at this level and you have to be at it all the time.

"It'll be no different this time."

There may be a slightly odd feel to knockout football this campaign, but Black still wants his side to deliver the goods.

He added: "It's a weird sort of season. If we'd have had a similar run to last year (in the FA Cup) we wouldn't be playing in front of 7,000 at Notts County again as they're not allowed fans in.

"Its a strange one but we can still build that cup fever up. You win three or four games in the FA Trophy and you're into the quarter finals of a prestigious trophy - so we'll be looking to put our strongest side out and go as far as we can. Winning games is winning games no matter what the competition. It breeds confidence."

Belper were beaten 4-3 at Stocksbridge Park Steels on Tuesday evening, their goals coming from Piteu Crouz, Sam Wright and Brodie Litchfield. On Saturday Crouz and Craig Nelthorpe netted in a 2-2 draw against Worksop Town.
