Chesterfield’s players have one last chance to stake a claim for a place in the starting line-up for the first game of the new season as they take on Guiseley at the Technique Stadium on Saturday in their third and final pre-season friendly.

Our Spireites reporter Liam Norcliffe has selected the team he would go with in the final match before the new National League season (hopefully) gets underway on October 3….

He is going to be Chesterfield's number one this season so it makes sense for him to start and get more used to his teammates with the Spireites only having played two friendlies.

The youngster has impressed in pre-season and I would like to see him start on the right of a back three. He came on in that position against Alfreton and looked very capable. Must be close to starting the first game of the season.

The skipper will be hoping for a much-improved season this time around. He will need to cut out the individual errors but his aerial ability and experience will be needed in the young-ish backline I would go with.
