Alfreton Town’s survival hopes face tough test against Wrexham and Grimsby Town

Such is the magnitude of Monday’s game in more ways than one, strict segregation procedures have been put in place for the fixture, particularly after the Mariners sold out their 2,500 ticket allocation way before the game.

Early closure of turnstiles

Alfreton Town fans are advised that admission to the Grimsby game will be via the North Street turnstiles only and that they should arrive for the fixture far earlier than usual.

The North Street turnstiles will be open from 12.45pm but Reds fans should pay particular notice to the fact that they will close at 2.30pm and there will be no entry to the game after that time except for season ticket holders who will have up to kick-off to gain entry.

Alfreton fans should also note that there are no Early Bird or Group Saver Tickets available for this fixture due to logistics over the Easter period.

All ticket for away fans

The game is all-ticket for away fans and all Grimsby Town fans without tickets are advised not to travel to the game as there will be no entry for them on the day.

Grimsby fans will be housed in the Alma Street stand and all of the Tom McRoy stand seats both covered and uncovered, all of which can only be accessed through the Alma Street turnstiles only.

Alfreton fans will have the use of all of the Bentley Close seating and terrace area along with the Tommie Bradley terracing and Reds Bar seating areas for the game.

Away trip

Firstly though, the Reds head to North Wales on Saturday to take on a Wrexham side who sit mid-table with nothing to play for but pride.

That is perhaps especially so after the Dragons suffered a surprise FA Trophy final defeat on penalties against Conference North side North Ferriby United last Sunday after leading 2-0.

That defeat brought the departure of manager Kevin Wilkin on Monday and although Wrexham gained a point from a 1-1 draw at home to Dover Athletic on Tuesday evening, they had a penalty save by Russell Coughlin to thank for their point.

It is a venue where Alfreton have done well before, winning twice and drawing once in the league as well as winning once there in the FA Cup and, given their recent record, the Reds should travel with confidence.

Transport

Should Nicky Law’s side avoid defeat at Wrexham on the Saturday, they would go into the Grimsby game unbeaten in eight games, only conceding two goals in their last seven outings before the trip to North Wales.

However, their ultimate nemesis since joining non league’s top flight, Grimsby, have an even better record of seven wins and one draw from their last eight games, conceding four times.

The Reds have only one draw and six defeats from their seven league games against Grimsby so far, scoring ten but conceding 29 including a 7-0 hammering at Blundell Park on August Bank Holiday Monday, 2014.
