The Reds lie four points above the relegation zone, with eight games left and are unbeaten in their last four outings - boasting clean sheets in all of them.

Nicky Law’s men haven’t conceded a goal in more than 400 minutes of Conference football ahead of Saturday’s (March 21) clash at home to Chester.

They drew a stalemate against Lincoln in midweek and will be looking to take another step closer to survival and keep the pressure firmly on their rivals.

A win could see the Reds move seven points ahead of the other relegation contenders, but a loss could potentially see the gap closed to one point so much is at stake.

Alfreton boss Law has a full-strength squad to choose from with no new injuries from the midweek game and no suspensions to contend with.

Chester lost 2-1 at home to strugglers Dartford on Tuesday after conceding an 89th minute own goal, and they will be looking to respond against Alfreton on Saturday.

The blues are sat comfortably in mid-table in eleventh place and almost certainly won’t go down and are extremely unlikely to reach the play offs, as they sit 13 points adrift of fifth place.

The visitors will be strong in midfield, as Rooney and McConville have 15 goals between them; so they will be dangerous. Alfreton are in the better form, but Chester will also fancy their chances against the Reds because of their position.

Both teams have a tendency of conceding goals so an attacking game of football could be expected, although the three previous league games between the sides have been tight affairs, all decided by just a one goal margin.

On the road this season, Steve Burr’s Chester have played 20, winning seven, drawing twice and tasting defeat eleven times.

Earlier this season, Chester beat Alfreton 2-1 at the Swansway Stadium back on October 18.

In the 2013/14 campaign, honours finished even. Chester ended Alfreton’s seven-game unbeaten start at home with a 1-0 victory at the Impact Arena on October 8, 2013, whilst the Reds gained revenge with a 1-0 win at Chester on March 15, 2014, thanks to a 66th minute Shaun Harrad penalty.
