Hide AdNicky Law’s men will also be hoping for a measure of revenge after they were dumped out of the FA Cup thanks to a 5-1 defeat at Sincil Bank, which saw midfielder Anthony Howell play the whole game in goal following injuries to two goalkeepers who were then on loan at the club.
But, this time round, Alfreton go into the game far better prepared and in far better mood following a 1-0 league victory in their latest away trip at Nuneaton Town last Saturday, which gave their hopes of staying up a huge shot in the arm.
Bradley Wood secured the victory with a 15th minute penalty after John Johnston had been brought down by former Reds’ defender Connor Franklin.

Hide AdAnother tough test lies in wait however, as Lincoln also beat Nuneaton in the league on Tuesday evening, finishing comfortable 3-1 victors to record a third successive victory.
That result means the Imps have now only lost twice in their last 12 outings in all competitions and have won all of their last three games, all for points, and all on home soil.
Alfreton will also be looking to progress past the first round of the competition for the first time in three years having gone out of the Trophy at the first hurdle in the last two seasons.
