Clubs from steps three to six in the National League System currently have until Friday to complete a Football Association survey which asks for suggestions on how to conclude the campaign.

The Nailers' board will hold a Zoom meeting tomorrow to discuss the options, but Black’s personal choice would be to amalgamate the results of this season and last or to find a way to play on.

"If they accumulated last season and this season with automatic and play-offs we'd be third. That'd be the ideal season for us rather than null and void.

"Or there's the shortened version, splitting the league in two or maybe playing each other once."

While Black concedes there's 'no right or wrong answer' he is adamant that 20 months of graft should not be wiped out.

"To null and void another one would be heartbreaking," he added.

"There'll be some managers saying this and that but the last season and a half, we've done two pre-seasons, played 40-odd games, more including cups.

"We've travelled here, there and everywhere and I think a fair reflection is to do points per game over the last two seasons.

"If you finish bottom over 40 games that's where you deserve to be, if you finish top you should go up.

"The last year-and-a-half could have a meaning and purpose that we have achieved something as a group of players and as a club."
