It completely changed the game after Northants had been 101 for 6 and in danger of falling short of the following on target of 194 but Cobb and Willey tore into the bowling after lunch to take their side to 324, just 19 behind on first innings, with 202 runs coming in the afternoon session.

Cobb was caught behind off Shiv Thakor and after Willey completed the second first-class hundred of his career off just 96 balls he fell to Mark Footitt for 103 before the innings ended on the stroke of tea with skipper Alex Wakely unable to bat because of an injured hand.
