Encouraging start as Derbyshire chase swansong win

Derbyshire have made a good start as they chase 341 to win the Division Two county championship match against Leicestershire on the last day of the season at Derby.

Foxes skipper Mark Cosgrove made a superb 156 as Leicestershire added another 56 runs this morning before they were bowled out for 363 with Wes Durston taking the last three wickets to finish with career best figures of 6 for 109.

Cosgrove twice drove the off-spinner for six, the second one bringing up his 150, but Durston had the last word when the Australian came down the pitch and was stumped.

That left Derbyshire with 81 overs to score the runs but with the pitch still a good one to bat on and against a weakened attack, Billy Godleman and Ben Slater reduced the target by 61 runs at lunch.
