Derbyshire new boy Imran Tahir happy to be world's number one bowler
Derbyshire's new overseas signing Imran Tahir says he is overwhelmed to be ranked the best bowler in the world in both Twenty20 and one-day international cricket.
The 37-year-old leg-spinner surged to the top of the ODI rankings after South Africa’s 5-0 series win over Sri Lanka, having already hit number one in T20. He said: “When I started playing, I never thought I’d be the top bowler. It’s down to all the hard work I’ve put in. It’s a really good achievement. I’ll try and stay in the number one spot as long as I can, but there are some other brilliant cricketers out there.”
South Africa’s ODI captain AB de Villiers said: “The secret is he doesn’t bowl any bad balls any more, which makes him really difficult to play.”
