After the usual slow start, Hornets got in to the stride and opened the scoring through Charlotte Welsby.

With the Hornets pushing forward they were awarded some penalty corners, one of which Vicki Wain fed to Bev Allan, who slotted home at the left post. Ashbourne were giving the Hornets very little time on the ball and fought for every 50/50 ball.

But with Lynn Creswell working hard in the centre of midfield and Tracey Harris picking up any through balls the Hornets were able to extend their lead thanks to a fine reverse stick shot from Jennie Bowmer, before Welsby got her second of the game before half-time.

The Hornets started the second half just as they had finished the first, on the attack and playing the ball out wide to Alex Ormston and Deb Elliott on the right started to pay dividends as Bev Allan scored again to take the score to 5-0.

Ashbourne were rewarded with a goal following some good passing, but goals from Jane Notman and a final one from Bev Allan to complete her hat-trick sealed the points for the Hornets.
