Matlock, with two pacey wingers, caused Amber Valley trouble early and forced some solid defensive work from Kate Vincent, Maddie Lowe and Abbie Grocutt in front of goalkeeper Jade Lawman.

Bees picked up their game but couldn’t gain the advantage in a tense first half, which ended goalless.

Matlock took control of the match early in the second half with a goal from their right winger.

Bees struggled to get back on level terms and even their now formidable short corner routines were falling a little short on their usual power.

With around 10 minutes left, Matlock’s sweeper made a crucial error though.

Ellesha Garner stole the ball and raced through on goal to level.

Bees were all of a sudden on top and kept the pressure on the failing Matlock defence. And they took the lead when Carla Fox crossed for Natz Saunders to sweep the ball home.

The comeback was complete with Karen Garner fired home a great strike from a very acute angle to make it 3-1 and wrap up an impressive win.
