Having staked its claim as the nation's new favourite tipple, a gin is now one of the most popular orders at the bar.

And while gin bars are becoming a dime a dozen across the Midlands, offering keen drinkers plenty to indulge in, there is a wealth of exciting gins you might not yet have heard of - but definitely need to try.

Crafted at Langley Distillery in Birmingham, Palmers gin is created from an original 300 year old recipe which has been given a modern twist, introducing zesty grapefruit peel to compliment the pine and earthy tones from the juniper and angelica botanicals.

The distillery is built on an ancient site where three springs converge and it is this water that is used in the two day distilling process, resutling in a dry gin that is full of flavour.

HMS Victory Navy Strength Gin

Forged at the Isle of Wight Distillery and in partnership with The National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth, this distinctive navy strength gin features a higher concentration of botanicals to offer a more intense flavour, and is bottled at gunpowder proof with an ABV of 57 per cent.

Named after the HMS Victory, a percentage of the sales go towards the ongoing restoration of the world’s most famous warship.

Cabin Pressure Vacuum Distilled Gin

Produced by a husband and wife team based in Horsham in West Sussex, Cabin Pressure gin is the result of many experimentation's in the garden shed.

Created using vacuum distillation and only six carefully selected botanicals, including coriander, Angelica root, ginger and liquorice, the resulting gin is smooth with a superb depth of flavour.

Durham Gin

Featuring ten botanicals, which include juniper, celery seed, elderflower and pink peppercorns, this gin was crafted at the North East's first distillery in Durham and makes use of classically Northern flavours to offer a unique reflection of the city in which it's produced.

Cuckoo Gin

Inspired by the legend of ‘The Brindle Cuckoo’, Cuckoo Gin is lovingly distilled with fresh water from the spring on Holme Farm in rural Lancashire, using locally grown ingredients, ranging from grapefruit and orange peel, to cardamom, chamomile and cinnamon, to create a bold flavour with a delectable peppery kick.

Black Powder Gin

Made on the Preese Hall estate in Preston, Black Power Gins are carefully crafted from select fruit and botanicals harvested on the estate or sourced from local suppliers, and the flavoursome recipes perfectly capture the essence of traditional gins with an exciting new twist.

After the last of the summer wine, dig out the gin with this crisp, fresh and zesty brand made in Holmfirth.

Made using fresh Yorkshire spring water blended with a mix of botanicals, which range from pepper and juniper, to delicate cinnamon, the resulting flavour is divine.

Leeds Gin

This hand-crafted gin is proudly distilled and bottled in the heart Leeds and incorporates some of Yorkshire's finest botanical ingredients, including the region's famous forced rhubarb, juniper berries, coriander and ginger, all of which are as locally sourced as possible.

Sir Robin of Locksley

This artisan gin forged in Sheffield gives a nod to its location having been named in honour of local legend, Robin Hood, and is a true English sipping gin, created in an off-dry style which can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a cocktail.

Elderflower, juniper, pink grapefruit and dandelion give it a fresh flavour, and a grapefruit peel garnish is the perfect finish for an extra citrus kick.

Muff Irish Potato Craft Gin

Established in 2017, the Muff Liquor Company launched their flagship Irish Potato Craft Gin this year, making it the perfect tipple to try if you're keen to indulge in new flavours.

Having been six times distilled, using nine botanicals and made using a prominent potato base with the purest spring water, it is a traditionally inspired gin which offers a spicy and aromatic flavour.

Copeland Gin

Handcrafted in Saintfield, County Down, Copeland Gin encompasses an infusion of locally sourced fruit botanicals to give the tipple a wonderfully sweet flavour that is sure to surprise and excite the palate.

Rock Rose Gin
