Zombies attack at the Ripley Academy
The zombie apocalypse was just one of the events organised by sixth formers to raise money for the Ripley Hospital League of Friends.
About 18 students dressed up as zombies and chased 50 students outside the academy after lessons finished.

The event was held as part of Rag Week, during which a host of fund-raising activities were organised by students.
So far, the overall total for the week stands at more than £278 and includes money raised from events including the zombie apocalypse, a crossbar challenge, welly wanging and throwing wet sponges at teachers.
Student Joe Robson, 18, helped to organise the zombie event.

“It took quite a lot of organising as we had to make sure we had enough props like fake blood. It was really like a game of survival and everyone enjoyed it while raising money for a good cause.”
Steve Richardson, director of learning for years 12 and 13, said the event was a massive success.
He said: “After the success of last year’s event the students were keen to do it again and everyone had a fantastic time.

“The students put a lot of effort into organising the week and we are very proud of them. We also want to thank the whole academy for participating.”
