Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote for me in the Grassmoor by-election on February 15.
I was absolutely delighted with the really positive response I received to my campaign out on the doorsteps over the past few weeks.
I’m proud of the positive campaign I fought, which focused on resolving local issues like anti-social behaviour, drug crime and over-development in our villages.
Despite falling short of being elected as a councillor, I’ll continue working with our local MP, Lee Rowley, to stand up for residents in Grassmoor, Temple Normanton, Corbriggs, Hasland and Winsick.
Things really are changing in Grassmoor and the 22 per cent increase in the Conservatives’ share of the vote in this by-election is evidence of the seismic shifts occurring in the area.
Next year’s local elections are just around the corner and I’ll continue campaigning to ensure Grassmoor has a strong Conservative voice on the district council. The by-election result shows it’s a straight two-horse race in Grassmoor between the Conservatives and Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour. And more so than ever before, it’s absolutely neck and neck.
