The company is investing nearly £1m in brand new water pipes which it says are vital in order to ensure a decent supply well into the future of the area.

John Springett, programme engineer, said: “We have already held a successful drop-in session for the residents of Castleton, where work will start on September 26 and should finish around summer 2017.

“We’ll be replacing just over three miles of pipes in and around the Castleton area to make sure that the residents have reliable water pipes that can serve the community for years to come.

“As well as the work in Castleton, we are also going to be replacing the old pipes in Edale.

“We would like to thank the local residents of Hope Valley for their patience and understanding while we get this vital work done, the investment will mean a dependable water supply for the area for the future.”

Work will start to replace nearly two miles of pipes on Edale Road on October 17 and the work is expected to take around six weeks to complete.

Severn Trent contract partner, Laing O’Rourke, will be carrying out the work in both Castleton and Edale, which is a continuation of the work that the company did in 2014.
