Wirksworth cadets raise £2900

Militant money-makers in Wirksworth are celebrating after raising an impressive £2900 for charity.

Youngsters from the Wirksworth Detachment of Derbyshire Army Cadet force spent three days packing bags in Matlock’s Sainsbury’s store to raise the cash.

Day one saw the cadets raise £700 for the Chloe Parks appeal – a worthy cause inspired by a local girl with cancer.

On day two, the cadets brought in a mammoth £1200 for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity and on day three they raised a further £1000, which will be used to purchase outdoor equipment for the cadets to use on expeditions.

Detachment Commanders, Second Lieutenant Shaun Wood said: “I’m incredibly proud of the cadets who were prepared to give up their own time to support these great causes.”
