Weather warning issued for Derbyshire

A weather warning has been raised for Derbyshire on Sunday (January 3).

The Met Office said the yellow warning for snow and ice will be valid until 11am.

It said: "Icy patches are expected to develop, especially on untreated surfaces, where snow has fallen on Saturday and where showers are frequent this evening and overnight.

"Showers will also be wintry at times, mainly inland and particularly over higher ground where above 200-300m a further few centimetres of snow is possible in places."

Derbyshire will also be mostly cloudy with frequent and often heavy showers today, which will mostly fall as rain or hail and may turn wintry over the Peak District at times, with a maximum temperature of 5°C.

Tonight, scattered showers will continue overnight with occasional clear spells allowing frost and ice to form.

Showers may continue to be wintry over the Peak District as the night remains breezy and cold.

Temperature is expected to plummet to 0°C.
