Snow fell in parts of Derbyshire overnight with the Met Office warning there could be further wintry weather on the way.

It may be a week after Easter, but higher parts of the county were turned into a winter wonderland by early on Sunday morning.

The Met Office had earlier issued a yellow warning for snow for Derbyshire and other areas in the UK between midnight and 8am this morning.

Coverings of snow were reported on the Cat and Fiddle road – although it remained open to traffic.

Forecasters say wintry showers will follow this evening, with hail showers in parts of the Derbyshire Dales and Amber Valley, and snow showers in the High Peak.
