Derbyshire weather: Met Office issues heavy rain and thunderstorms warning

The yellow weather warning will be in place in Derbyshire from 11am to 9pm today (June 18) as heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected across the county.
Showers are set to develop in the late morning, becoming heavy with some thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening.

Hide AdSome of these will be slow-moving with lightning, hail and also heavy rain and a few places seeing 20-30 mm of rain in one hour. Met Office has warned that this could lead to disruption and flooding.
There is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray, standing water or hail, leading to longer journey times by car and bus. Train services may also be affected.
Some damage to a few buildings and structures from lightning strikes is possible. Short-term loss of power and other services is also possible.
