Derbyshire weather LIVE: County braced for SEVEN HOURS of snow as Met Office sounds warning

Derbyshire is braced for hours of heavy snowfall today with travel disruption, road closures and power cuts all possible as the Met Office sounds a ‘yellow’ level warning for snow and ice across the county.

According to the Met Office, heavy snow is expected to hit Chesterfield and the surrounding area from around 10am this morning (Thursday, January 14) which will continue into the evening as temperatures plunge below freezing.

The weather warning is valid until 9pm tonight but will return on Saturday.

Drivers have been warned to take extra care on the roads.
