Derbyshire on alert for snow and ice TONIGHT as Met Office issue new weather warning

The Met office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice today for parts of Derbyshire.

It will be a cold and windy day, particularly across the Peak District where it will be rather cloudy with wintry showers. Some may be heavy and lead to temporary accumulations. Drier and occasionally sunny elsewhere, with fewer showers. Maximum temperature 6 °C.

Tonight showers will slowly die out during the evening followed by a few cloud breaks later in the night, leading to a chance of frost locally by dawn. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Wednesday will see a mixture of sunny spells and showers, wintry over hills, but perhaps not as cold and windy as Tuesday. Remaining largely dry in the east. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Thursday to Saturday rain, perhaps wet snow will be clearing to sunshine and showers on Thursday. Cold, locally frosty Friday, then increasingly wet and windy, with coastal gales.
