WEATHER: Two flood alerts in force in Derbyshire

Two flood alerts remain in place in Derbyshire after more heavy downpours across the county.

The Environment Agency says the alerts - which are put in place when flooding is possible - are for the River Wye and the lower River Derwent.

Alerts have been in place for the two rivers since the weekend when the current spell of wet and windy weather began.

For the River Wye, flooding of low-lying agricultural land continues with Ashford and Bakewell potentially affected by flood water.

The level at the Ashford river gauge earlier today (Monday) was 0.65 metres.

River levels are forecast to remain steady throughout today, but may react to further forecasted rainfall over night tonight.

For the lower River Derwent, flooding of low-lying agricultural land continues.

Church Wilne, Draycott and Wilne Lane between Draycott and Sawley may be affected by flood water.

The level at the Church Wilne river gauge this morning was 1.5 metres, but could rise if there more heavy rain.
