PCSO Anthony Boswell, from Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “It’s vital that people properly secure their property and try to deter thieves in any way they can.

“Padlocks on doors and sturdy locks on items within garages and sheds are a great way to protect your items but they are not the only way.

“Other cheap but effective crime prevention methods include shed or garage alarms, security lights and door chimes.

“We have some of these items for sale so please get in touch if you want to add these to your home security.

“They only take a few minutes to set up but they can save a lot of distress in the long-run by helping protect you from crime.”

The goods are available as part of Operation Illuminate, a partnership security project between police and Derbyshire Dales District Council.

Witnesses or anyone with information relating to any of the above break-ins should call Derbyshire police on 101.
