Rescuers came to the aid of a 67–year–old male who became lost in thick mist, heavy rain and darkness on Kinder Scout.

Mountain rescue teams from Buxton, Edale, Kinder and Glossop, together with search dogs, responded to his call for help on Bank Holiday Monday.

The Buxton team was deployed to search the south–western edge of the Kinder moorland plateau.

Team members were experiencing strong winds and driving rain with only a few metres visibility.

The lost walker was able to talk to mountain rescue search managers on his mobile phone and describe the terrain around him.

He was located quite quickly by a search dog unit from the Kinder team in the Kinder Low End area.

Following checks he was escorted off the hill by a Kinder section.
