Volunteers plant 400 trees at playing fields

The team was made up of people from Matlock in Bloom, Transition Matlock and Matlock Civic Association and planted around the edge of Cavendish Playing Fields, in conjunction with the Cavendish Playing Fields Association.
The trees planted were oak, birch, rowan, wild cherry, field maple and goat willow and were provided by the Woodland Trust.

Hide AdMartin Burfoot, who organised the planting exercise on behalf of Matlock In Bloom, said: “Eventually, the trees should help to provide much needed shelter from the prevailing westerly winds which blow across the fields and be appreciated by footballers, hockey players, as well as local residents and walkers. It was good to have helpers from a number of local groups.”
