The award has come through the Landfill Communities Fund which requires a third party organisation to contribute ten percent of the project cost in order to secure the funding. A contribution of £1,300 has been awarded by Chesterfield Borough Council.
Graham King, chair of the Friends group, said: “We are grateful to Viridor Credits and to Chesterfield Borough Council for awarding the money needed to make the project possible. The boggy section of the park has long been the subject of complaints from visitors. This project will create a feature of interest that will also add more structure to the park”.
