Volunteer initiative banks High Peak support

Over 20 community volunteers have been recruited thanks to a campaign launched across High Peak to coincide with National Volunteer Week.

Glossop social enterprise Digital Outreach joined forces with Glossop Volunteer Centre to source 30 volunteers for ‘The Knowledge Bank’.

The new initiative aims to bring together people who can offer their skills and knowledge pro bono to charitable organisations across the High Peak.

And thanks to the success of the campaign High Peak Volunteer, they are already two-thirds towards reaching their target, with 22 new volunteers signing up.

A number of these attended Glossop Volunteer Centre’s celebration event on June 5.

Jude Palmer, managing director of Digital Outreach, said: “The response from the local community has been fantastic, but we still have lots of places to fill.

“The key is to really think laterally about your skills and how they might benefit a local charity.”
