Brothers Mark and Steven Hewitt and friend Dan Wooley auditioned individually but the programme’s scouts asked them back - as a band.

They then put together an audition tape which - when they shared it on Facebook - got almost 30,000 views.

“We gig together regularly,” said Mark.

“Both Steve and myself auditioned for what was Pop Idol many years ago and got through to the judge’s stages.

“We thought this year was time for another crack at it.

“We auditioned individually this year but they wanted to hear more from the three of us so put this cover together and sent it off on Monday.”

The two brothers have been playing local venues for over 17 years and enjoyed chart success in the band Ovacast a few years back.
