UPDATE: Duckmanton thieves used van with hole in roof for ‘smash and grab’


A JCB was also used to remove the machine from a petrol station in Duckmanton near Chesterfield at about 4am on July 17.
Pictures from the scene showed a large hole in the wall of the Midland Co-operative Food shop in Chesterfield Road.

Hide AdA spokesman for Derbyshire Police said: “It is thought that a white Vauxhall Vivaro van was used in the incident that had its roof cut off.”
The cash machine and van were discovered later in a road a short distance from the scene.
An eyewitness of the dramatic ram raid who saw thieves steal a cashpoint in Duckmanton has described an “opportunistic, well-planned heist”.
He described how a team of at least three burglars using three vehicles used a piece of heavy machinery to carry out their theft of a cash machine from the Central England Co-op.
