Uninsured cars seized in Dronfield

Officers from the local Safer Neighbourhood policing teams were joined by CREST (Casualty Reduction and Enforcement Support Team), VOSA (Vehicle Operator Services Agency) and HM Revenue and Customs last week.

The checks were carried out on Chesterfield Road at Dronfield on Friday, March 21. As well as taking the two uninsured vehicles off the road, a mixture of warnings and fixed penalty notices were issued to:

25 drivers and passengers for not wearing a seatbelt.

11 drivers for using their mobile phone while driving.

10 drivers for a registration plate offence

Five drivers for tyre defects.

Three drivers for speeding.

Six motorists, whose tinted front windows were found to be below the legal visibility level, all removed the tints after being stopped.

VOSA also issued 10 prohibition notices to drivers for defects on vehicles which seriously affect their roadworthiness and the owners have to have their vehicle inspected at an MOT centre.

Operation Safedrive checks continue to take place throughout the county and the team hope to plan future operations in the North East Derbyshire area.
