Two men assaulted in Alfreton and Ripley

Police are appealing for witnesses after two assaults in the Amber Valley.

Sometime between 11.45am and 12.20pm on Tuesday, August 25, a 29-year-old man was walking along Grange Street, Alfreton, when a man approached him and hit him several times.

He suffered a broken jaw and cuts and swelling to his face.

He was treated at hospital and has now been released.

A Derbyshire police spokesman said: “He can remember little of the incident and can’t describe the man who hit him.”

Sometime between 10.30pm on Saturday, August 15 and 3am the following morning, an 18-year-old man was assaulted in the car park opposite Sylhet Spice restaurant off Nottingham Road, Ripley.

He suffered a broken jaw and needed surgery.
