Travellers ordered to leave Chesterfield land

The group has set up camp behind Chesterfield Bowl on Storforth Lane, Hasland.

Vehicles – including caravans – are currently at the scene.

The borough council has issued the travellers with a ‘direction to leave’ notice under section 77 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.

A document posted at the entrance to the land tells the travellers that they could be fined if they fail to leave the location ‘as soon as practicable’.

Travellers have visited the area on a number of occassions recently.
