The closure is in place on the M1 Southbound between junction 29 A617 for Chesterfield / Mansfield and junction 28 A38 for Alfreton / Mansfield.
Highways England said the incident is expected to clear by 2pm today (Friday, February 18).
Traffic is coping well in the area.
